German Primera

German Primera is Senior Lecturer in Philosophy and Politics at the University of Brighton, where he also serves as Deputy Director of the Centre for Applied Philosophy, Politics, and Ethics (CAPPE). He is an editor for Contemporary Political Theory and the Journal of Italian Philosophy. His research and teaching engage with contemporary French and Italian philosophy, Black studies, and biopolitics, with a particular focus on political ontology, practices of refusal, and radical thought.

German has published numerous peer-reviewed articles on political theory, continental philosophy, and decolonial thought. His first monograph, The Political Ontology of Giorgio Agamben (Bloomsbury, 2019), explores the relationship between violence and political ontology. He is currently co-authoring a book with Professor Mark Devenney titled Troubling Democracy: On Practices of Care, Fugitivity, and Refusal, forthcoming with Edinburgh University Press.
